The Open Heart Necklace

The open heart necklace is an exciting new trend within the industry.  It provides an elegant and thoughtful way to tell someone that you love them.  It started with a single idea, one simple design of a meaningful thought, and has grown into something that nearly everyone has seen.

Open heart necklaces come in a variety of shapes and sizes.  It can be anything from a very large heart shaped diamond pendant dangling on a thick white gold chain to a thin sterling silver rope that a little sterling heart dangles from.  It all comes down to what the buyer wants out of the open heart, other than the meaning of love that it provides.

The only standard considered for this particular necklace design is that it is indeed an open heart, which means, simply, that the heart pendant or addition to the necklace is not fully closed.  It must be “hollow” and contain an empty space in the middle.  It however does not matter if the heart pendant is made of one solid piece nor has a gap in the outline at any point in time, just that the center is not filled.

Some of the open heart necklaces are simply chains with open hearts attached to them along the linking, but the most common design is some sort of metal chain with a pendant dangling in the center.  Often the open heart is offset so that it is held at a slight angle instead of being centered on the chain.  What materials the necklace and the heart pendant are made of are also completely up to the buyer, just as the design ideas are as well.  There are so many choices and a large variety of price points that most anyone can find what they are looking for, if they look in the right places.

Most jewelry stores now carry the open heart necklace design, though the prices can fluctuate from store to store based on materials and prestige.  If it were desired a person could find a cheap open heart necklace at a major jewelry department store, such as Wal-Mart, otherwise a more expensive and lucrative option would be at a standard or prestige jewelry store, which specializes in the industry.  This style is also very prevalent online and can be found with a simple search in your favorite engine.

Cheap open heart necklaces can be found for fewer than 20 dollars US and higher priced versions can be found for as much as 2,000 dollars US, or greater.  It depends mostly on the preference and the needs of the buyer.  A cheap necklace will be made of inferior materials but still have that look that is desired when someone looks for an open heart design.  Perhaps a low quality silver or sometimes even a silver plastic will be used; however, the more expensive version of the design will generally have diamonds set into the heart pendant and a white gold or gold chain to let it dangle effortlessly from the neck.

You can buy open heart necklaces at a local store or online, just make sure to check the quality of craftsman ship and the diamond rating if you are spending more than a few bucks, otherwise enjoy your shopping and just pick up something that seems to fit your needs.  An open heart necklace is a great way to say I love you to that special someone and there are enough deviations in the standard design that you wont see the same pendant or necklace hoping around all over town or where ever you may go.
